Monsters beat beamers 124-97 for 2017 Battle of the Burgh championshipTwo of Steel City Roller Derby’s “home teams” wrapped up the 2017 intraleague season with an exciting Battle of the ‘Burgh Championship game on March 25. The Mon Monsters took on the Penn Bruisers, who were defending their title as last year’s champs. The Monsters took an early lead and held it throughout the game. The Bruisers fought back hard, ending the first half with two high-scoring jams that seemed to shift momentum in their favor. Both teams came back strong in the second half, with the Bruisers closing the Monster’s lead to just 9 points with 10 minutes left in the game. Their victory caps off an undefeated season. Way to go, Monsters! Rawr!
