You must be at least 18 years of age to participate and Join SCRDwear all required safety gear. This includes: helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, and mouthguard. Some gear will be available for borrowing, but these are in limited supply, and we cannot guarantee enough for everyone. You must bring your own mouthguard, which can be found cheap at many sporting goods sections and stores. (Be sure to follow the instructions that come with your mouthguard to mold it before coming to your first practice!)

Per WFTDA statement about gender (link:, SCRD is committed to inclusive and anti-discrimination practices in relation to all transgender women, intersex women, and gender expansive participants, and aims to ensure that all skaters’, volunteers’, and employees’ rights are respected and protected.
An individual who identifies as a trans woman, intersex woman, and/or gender expansive may skate with Steel City Roller Derby if women’s flat track roller derby is the version and composition of roller derby with which they most closely identify.


Bootcamp and Tryouts

Potential new skaters must attend one of the following boot camps to learn what will occur during tryouts and get a feel for what is expected of new skaters. You are welcome to attend multiple, but only one is required to attend fresh meat tryouts.

September 2017 Boot Camp Dates

The dates are as follows:

Tuesday September 5th: 7:30pm (tickets)
Thursday September 7th: 7:30pm (tickets)
Tuesday September 12th: 7:30pm (tickets)
Thursday September 14th: 7:30pm (tickets)
Thursday September 28th: 7:30pm (tickets)

Tryouts are in October 2017 (TBD)
