Why do we need sponsors?
The Steel City Roller Derby are not only a sports league but also a DIY entity. Sponsors help with bout production expenses including venue rental, insurance, sound, lighting, equipment such as scoreboard software, water coolers, etc. Sponsors help our skaters with team uniforms, practice venue rink rental, coaching fees, merchandise, and association membership fees. Sponsors help us purchase advertising supplies for flyers, posters, bout programs, and other printed materials.
Would you like to set up a table or booth at one of our bouts?
We offer booth fees for $75.00 a bout
We would like to offer you the exciting opportunity to support the Steel City Roller Derby, Pittsburgh’s only female-owned and operated roller derby league.
Roller Derby, both sport and spectacle, attracted massive audiences in the 60s and 70s. Today, the modern, national resurgence in the form of feisty all-women leagues is recreating that appeal and adding a few flavors all its own.
Our audience comes in all shapes and sizes. Parents bring their kids, toting handmade signs for their favorite skaters. Rock ‘n roll twenty-somethings who don’t typically get into sports show up to our events in droves. Sports fans who are accustomed to paying big money to watch a game through binoculars love the in-your-face feel of sitting a few feet away from the action.
With over 100 leagues in the United States today, this new twist on an older sport has gained national media attention in the likes of Newsweek, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and CNN’s Now with Paula Zahn. It has spawned a reality television show on A&E, and has been featured on local television and radio stations and in local publications too abundant to mention. Recently, the full length feature movie Whip It! Directed by Drew Barrymore and starring Ellen Page hit theatres generating much attention to the sport of Roller Derby.
Pittsburgh’s Steel City Roller Derby are proud to stand among the ranks of these female-owned and operated leagues. With our sixth season fast approaching, we want you to get in the game! The Steel City Roller Derby attract a very diverse and very large crowd, with over 500 spectators coming out to cheer us on and have a great time. We’d like to offer you the opportunity to support our growing league and reach our ever-expanding fan base. There are many ways for you to get your name out there and associated with the energy and intensity of our league. Your business can increase brand awareness through the Steel City Roller Derby at our bouts, online at www.steelcityrollerderby.org, and through our fundraisers and events. We also present you with the opportunity to get your product directly into the hands of our fans and visiting skaters when you donate samples to our raffle baskets and hospitality bags.
