Derby 101

Derby 101 is a guided intro to the world of roller derby, where you'll learn the basics, meet the Steel City Roller Derby team, and learn how to join our Freshie program (kicking off on Monday, January 27th). No experience needed — just bring your curiosity, proof of Covid-19 vaccination, equipment (see below) and get ready to roll!

Details: Monday, January 13th at the Homewood-Brushton Branch YMCA, 7140 Bennett St, Pittsburgh, PA 15208, USA. Derby 101 starts at 7:30 PM and we ask you to join us at 7:15 PM for check-in.

Equipment: We require a helmet, skates, mouth guard, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards. Quad skates in a derby style are recommended. SCRD has a limited number of pads and helmets available for borrowing. Additionally, Wicked Skatewear will be partnering with us for the night!
